Despite His Years of AI Experience, Instructor Nabib Ahmed is Always Impressed by the Curiosity and Caliber of Inspirit AI’s Students

Nabib Ahmed is a student at Harvard University studying Statistics and Computer Science. Nabib is passionate about data science and is interested in developing new ML algorithms for analysis and prediction. In particular, he is interested in the application of computer vision, time-series forecasting, and simulation.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU STUDIED IN COLLEGE? HOW DID YOU END UP STUDYING AI?

“I discovered CS at college and found it very exciting. As I progressed through my CS career, I found ML and AI to be especially interesting. I took a great course, MIT6.034, where I learned more about the field and I’ve been in pursuing AI since.”

WHAT RESEARCH/INDUSTRY WORK WITHIN AI HAVE YOU BEEN FOCUSED ON? WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AI?

“I’m personally motivated by the implementation and mathematics behind ML and AI systems. Many of my classes have a strong statistics and mathematics presence. I’ve completed projects in Computer Vision and Econometrics using ML techniques and am currently shifting gear in 5G and IoT. Something that excites me about AI and ML is how it’ll improve many aspects of our life, from virtual assistants to automating complex tasks. I’m currently following Boston Dynamics and hope to one day see robot partners more commonplace.”

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE IN INSPIRIT AI?

“The highlight of my teaching experience in Inspirit AI has been meeting the wonderful students! The students are all curious, passionate, and extremely bright – I’m taken back by the dedication and tenacity they’ve shown and the immense amount of material they’ve absorbed. I’m truly humbled to have been an instructor and fuel their growth.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN STUDYING AI OR PURSUING A CAREER IN AI IN THE FUTURE?

“Never stop being curious and never be afraid to ask questions. It’s often the most simple questions that unlock the most beautiful and rich solutions.”
